Introduction

The Department of Nuclear Medicine at Asan Medical Center specializes in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radioactive isotopes. Our services include in-vivo imaging, in-vitro assays, and radionuclide therapies, all supported by state-of-the-art technology and ongoing research.

Excellence & Strengths

Pioneering Radiopharmaceutical Development and Innovative Clinical Research

  • Leading efforts in the development of radiopharmaceuticals, resulting in new drug approvals (F-18 FLT, FP-CIT, FES, FDOPA) by the Korean FDA
Radiopharmaceuticals

International Accreditations

  • First in Korea to receive KSA ISO9001 certification for Nuclear Medicine Medical Services and Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing
  • Achieved ACR/ACRIN accreditation for PET and gamma imaging centers in 2011 and 2013, respectively—first in Asia
  • Radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility acquired Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) from Korea FDA since 2017
  • In-vitro laboratory accredited with KOLAS (ISO15189) since 2015

The largest volume of clinical studies and cases

  • PET/CT > 25,000 cases/yr, Gamma > 55,000 cases/yr, DEXA > 55,000 cases/yr, RIA > 1,400,000 studies/yr, RI therapy > 900 cases/yr
